Adapting Agatha Christie's Appointment with Death for the bande dessinée format, this 2019 volume from Éditions Paquet brings Hercule Poirot to life under the atmospheric cover art of Marek. The cover sets a moody, sun-warmed tone as the dapper, mustachioed Poirot strides purposefully alongside an elegantly dressed woman through what appears to be an ancient stone archway or ruin, bathed in warm amber light against a dusky blue-grey sky. Script collaborator Didier Quella-Guyot joins Christie's source material in what looks to be a richly atmospheric mystery set somewhere ancient and sun-soaked — a perfect canvas for the little grey cells.
