“Can You Bear It?”

In "Can You Bear It?", Herbie stumbles into a sweetly surreal adventure when a batch of odd lollipops sets off a chain reaction with his father—and sends him fleeing to the zoo, where he hides in a bear cage. With a touch of magic and a trip through storybook time, Herbie confronts the legacy of bear stereotypes, guided by a curious mix of whimsy and quiet purpose. Written by Shane O'Shea and brought to life with expressive art by Ogden Whitney, with lettering by Ed Hamilton, the cover by Kurt Schaffenberger captures the story’s playful tension.

Herbie receives some odd lollipops and his father tries one, only to be motivated to take away all Herbie's lollipops. Herbie escapes with his lollipop cabinet and hides in a bear cage at the zoo. The next day, the bear's miserable because bears are portrayed negatively. Herbie uses magic to allega-poop himself into a story book, but finds that bears deserve their image. He goes back in time to set up some positive images.
