Warren Ellis and Derek Yaniger's mid-1994 run on Hellstorm: Prince of Lies had fully embraced its dark, occult edge by issue #17, "The Saint of the Pit." Yaniger's cover sets an unsettling tone: a snarling, flame-wreathed demonic figure looms above a stoic Hellstorm, while a hooded figure below holds a candelabra before a wall covered in occult sigils and pentagrams. The composition layers dread beautifully — hellfire above, cold ritual below — making this one of the more atmospherically compelling covers of the series.
