“Shameful Escapade”

In "Shameful Escapade," teenage sisters Lila and Francine take a risky outing with two sailors on leave, only to find themselves caught between youthful curiosity and the weight of their own inexperience. Written and illustrated by Bob Powell, this 1952 Harvey Comics tale captures a moment of tension and growth, with the sailors' initial harsh judgment giving way to unexpected kindness. The story unfolds with a quiet sincerity, its emotional beats underscored by Bill Wenzel’s expressive cover art.

Teenaged sisters Lila and Francine sneak out and pick up Len and Ernie, two sailors on leave, but balk at having sex with them, and admit their ages (15 and 16). Calling them “cheap and common and dumb,” the sailors tell them to leave, then repent and safely escort them home. Len and Ernie turn out to be decent fellows and prove to be satisfactory dates for the sisters at the local ice cream shop.
