Issue four of Image's Hellhounds drops its armed duo into a genuinely unsettling environment — a blond man in dark clothing and a red-haired woman in a midriff-baring outfit both brandish firearms as they navigate a gnarled, shadowy landscape strewn with blood and what appear to be monstrous creatures closing in around them. The cover art by Joe Abraham has a raw, kinetic energy that makes the danger feel immediate, with sickly green lighting carving the scene out of the darkness. With George T. Singley IV and Abraham driving this 2003 Image series, this issue promises the kind of gritty, high-stakes action the title delivers in spades.
