Mike Mignola's moody, atmospheric cover for this 2010 Dutch-language edition — titled De Duivel Ontwaakt — draws you straight into Hellboy's shadowy world. The red-skinned paranormal investigator looms at the center, surrounded by a haunting ensemble of figures: a skull-adorned military man, a female companion, flickering candelabras, and grinning skulls lurking in the darkness. It's a wonderfully brooding composition that captures the gothic tension Hellboy does so well.
