John Constantine sits cigarette in mouth, framed by skeletal coffin imagery, while a strip of faces above him — rotting horrors flanking a lone human woman — hints at the dangerous company he keeps. Looming behind it all is a massive silhouetted figure against a blood-red sky, casting an ominous shadow over the whole scene. Writer Mike Carey and artist Chris Brunner bring "Out of Season" to its conclusion in this July 2004 Vertigo issue, with Tim Bradstreet's moody cover setting exactly the right tone for Constantine's world of dread and dark bargains.
