Hawkeye #7
Kate Bishop in her purple Hawkeye suit — quiver of arrows on her back — peers into an ornate mirror whose reflection shows a mysterious woman in flowing robes clutching a pendant and a note, with a shadowy skull looming behind her. The tagline "Who's the Deadliest of Them All?" gives the whole thing a dark fairy-tale charge that Kelly Thompson and artist Leonardo Romero were delivering so well in 2017. Julian Totino Tedesco's painted cover composition is genuinely striking, playing the mirror-as-portal idea with a moody elegance that makes this issue hard to walk past on the shelf.
