The eighteenth chapter of Duval, Gioux, Emem, and Sayago's steampunk-tinged series brings us to a rain-slicked Victorian London, where a hulking locomotive-bus — bearing the name "Hildebrand's" — rumbles through what appears to be Piccadilly Circus, its classical fountain and curved billboard-plastered façade glowing under a twilight sky. An airship drifts ominously overhead, lending the city an alternate-history grandeur that this series does so well. Subtitled Mélancholia, this 2018 Delcourt installment promises a moody, atmospheric chapter that blends the familiar and the fantastic in equal measure.
