About this Collection

This collection kicks off Valiant's 2000s revival of the Harbinger series, reprinting the first story arc that introduces the psionically gifted 'psiots' and their struggle against the sinister Toyo Harada. It gathers the early issues that establish the core conflict and characters, serving as a starting point for new readers of the Valiant Universe.

Harbinger: The Beginning #1 kicks off with a high-stakes mission as Sting, Kris, Zephyr, Flamingo, and Torque track down Ax, a gifted hacker who cracks open Harada’s encrypted data. When Ax commandeers an alien spacecraft and leads the team to the moon’s hidden extraterrestrial headquarters, they’re thrust into a tense standoff with Rexo, their human ally, who’s secretly recruiting Ax to build a ship for an alien exodus—forcing the team to confront the true nature of their mission. Written by Jim Shooter and illustrated by David Lapham, with inks by John Dixon and vibrant colors by Janet Jackson, Maria Beccari, Jorge González, Mickey Clausen, and Derek Santiago, the issue’s cover by Bob Hall and Joe Rubinstein captures the moment the journey begins.
