Hap Hazard is caught flirting with Cupcake, a woman he met, and is punished by his girlfriend Miss Meek. When she invites him for a quiet evening at home, he eagerly accepts, but chaos erupts when Cupcake and her orchestra show up at his door, leading him to threaten to join the Navy to escape the trouble. Later, when Miss Meek and Hap's teacher Wowie reunite him with the mischievous Cupcake for lessons, further complications arise. In another story, "Time Out for Trouble," Hap's attempt to help his friend Zipper by substituting in a championship basketball game backfires spectacularly, with Zipper sidelined and unable to participate.

Seeing a chance to get back in her good graces—and knowing she'll help him pass Latin—Hap offers to coach *her* on romance instead. A makeover and some matchmaking schemes follow, but Hap's interference sets off a chain of romantic complications that lands him in hot water just when he needs Miss Meek's tutoring most.
