Hanna-Barbera Cave Kids #5
In "Sheepy Shale," the Cave Kids embark on a field trip to find rare rocks, only to have their adventure take a surprising turn when a bird steals one and flies off with it. Short Stuff follows, tumbles down a hill, and ends up in the bird’s nest—where he discovers a treasure trove of rare rocks and a single egg waiting to hatch. With a clever plan and a little help, he ensures the bird and its chick take flight, but the real challenge begins when the car carrying their haul proves too heavy to move. Written by Del Connell and illustrated in the classic Hanna-Barbera style, this 1979 adventure captures the spirit of youthful curiosity and unexpected detours.

The Cave Kids go on a field trip looking for rare rocks. While they are looking a bird picks up a rare rock and carries it to his nest. Short Stuff tries to follow him but he falls down the hill. The bird catches him and carries him to his nest, where he has an egg and many rare rocks that he has collected. Short Stuff knows that a bird leaves its nest once the baby is hatched so he helps the egg hatch and the bird and the baby fly away. Short Stuff can now take all of the rare rocks but his day is ruined when the car is too heavy for the driver and he and his friends have to push it home.
