Zoe Thorogood's Hack/Slash: Back to School #3 puts its blue-dread-locked, school-uniform-clad protagonist front and center — katana drawn, coffee in hand, and blood already spattered across her shirt — all while a writhing mass of pink tentacles surges behind her. The tension between that casual coffee cup and the gleaming blade says everything about the tone Thorogood is going for: horror with attitude and a darkly comic edge.
