Uncas och hans följe, som har i uppdrag att befria Cooper från Starke Armen, blir försenade då ett vagnshjul gått sönder. Den flyende Roky hinner därför samtidigt till Starke Armens läger och förvarnar honom. En strid bryter ut och Uncas flyr från lägret för att få förstärkning från Fort Colorado.
