This 1984 Goldmann collection of Dik Browne's beloved Viking strip carries the wonderfully apt subtitle Viel Feind, viel Ehr! — "Many enemies, much honor!" The cover strips show Hägar seated at a round table, horned helmet and shaggy beard in full effect, as a smaller companion cheekily asks whether he may pose a personal question — namely, whether Hägar actually has any enemies — met with a perfectly deadpan "Sicher." Browne's warm, economical linework captures everything that makes this series a delight: gentle humor, expressive characters, and a Viking hero who takes life's absurdities completely in stride.
