Cifuentes' cover art places a wide-eyed young man at the center, caught between the crumbling architecture behind him and the looming, tentacled alien creatures emerging from an eerie crimson sky — the threat feels genuinely overwhelming and close. With script by Dobbs and visuals by Cifuentes, this 2017 volume is a handsome way to experience Wells' enduring tale of invasion and survival in comics form.
