Gwandanaland Comics #2475

This 2019 Gwandanaland Comics collection reprints Big Shot Comics No. 27 (September, 10¢), spotlighting the Skyman in what the cover makes immediately clear is wartime action — the caped, masked hero in red and blue delivers a powerful kick to a uniformed enemy officer aboard what appears to be a Nazi vessel, sending the man reeling into the air while startled sailors look on in alarm. One enemy soldier's exclamation says it all: "Ach! It iss der Skyman!" — a great snapshot of the patriotic pulp energy that made anthology comics like Big Shot such an entertaining read in their era. Collecting Volume 3 of the Skyman's adventures, this Gwandanaland edition is a fine way to revisit a corner of Golden Age comics history that deserves more attention.
