Gwandanaland Comics #2460

This 2019 Gwandanaland treasury collects material from Fantastic (Youthful Magazines' SF/Horror line), and the reproduced cover says it all — a massive, skull-faced tentacled monster looms over a screaming man and a woman in a red dress as its writhing appendages close in around them in what appears to be an underwater setting. It's a wonderfully lurid snapshot of early SF/horror comics at their most unhinged, with that skull-and-crossbones "BEWARE!" banner daring you to open the pages. If you appreciate the wild imagination and sheer nerve of mid-century genre comics, this treasury is a compelling way to experience them.
