This Gwandanaland Comics collection reprints Zip Comics No. 32 (December, 10¢), and the reproduced cover alone sets an electrifying tone — Steel Sterling, in his distinctive red costume, clashes atop a Nazi-emblazoned tank while a masked hero in green and yellow battles enemy soldiers in the foreground, the whole scene bursting with the patriotic urgency of wartime MLJ publishing. The banner proclaims it "the most dramatic story of his career," and the cover art certainly delivers on that promise with its crowded, kinetic composition of snarling figures and battlefield chaos. A fine 2018 reprint opportunity to experience one of the Golden Age's most action-packed anthologies in a single volume.
