Guarding the Globe #2

This second issue of Image's Guarding the Globe plunges readers straight into an underwater battle, with the cover by Ransom Getty depicting a cluster of colorfully costumed heroes — clad in yellow, blue, and red — tumbling through a churning, bubble-filled sea as they grapple with a massive, tentacled creature looming at the bottom and a monstrous white beast surging from the left. The teal depths of what appears to be a submerged cityscape below give the whole image a thrillingly alien quality. With Robert Kirkman and Benito Cereno at the writing helm, this 2010 Skybound/Image series is clearly delivering on its promise of globe-spanning superhero action.
