The 31st century's premier team faces a serious threat in this May 1994 issue, as the cover — penciled by Kevin West and inked by Steve Montano — announces "The Brutal Return of Overkill!" in bold fashion. Center stage, the massively armored Overkill dominates a rocky, star-filled space backdrop, clutching a white-haired figure helplessly in his grip while a second Guardian is flung aside. Ringing the scene is a packed gallery of character portraits — including a masked figure, a blue-skinned alien, and several other Guardians looking on in alarm — making good on the cover's own promise of "a galaxy of guest stars.
