“Let Loose the Dogs of War!”

This 1992 Infinity War crossover issue packs its cover with a striking collision of heroes and their sinister doppelgangers — faces crowded edge to edge, each Guardian matched against a fang-filled, wild-eyed dark reflection, with the bold tagline "The Good, the Bad, and the Doppelgangers!" summing up the chaos perfectly. Cover pencils by Joe Brozowski and inks by Steve Montano give the composition real energy, the sheer density of snarling duplicates making it immediately clear the Guardians are in for something unsettling. With Jim Valentino and Michael Gallagher on the writing and J. J. Birch on interior art, this is a fine snapshot of the Guardians caught up in one of 1992 Marvel's most ambitious cosmic events.
