Astrolabe's explosion spared the other Guardians while destroying the Newcomers, but Astrolabe himself is lost. The Guardians re-enter the structure and begin to discern the Newcomers are following some kind of religious belief; Hermetikus, the Newcomers' leader, dispatches his men to destroy the Guardians.
