Grindhouse: Doors Open at Midnight #2

Dark Horse's grindhouse anthology rolls on with issue #2 of Doors Open at Midnight, and Dan Panosian's cover says everything you need to know about the tone: a giant, vividly rendered pair of lips dominates the image, a large honeybee perched right on the mouth in unsettling close-up — equal parts lurid and genuinely striking. Subtitled "They Hunger for the Flesh of Men," this second chapter of "Bee Vixens From Mars" promises the kind of gleefully trashy sci-fi horror that the grindhouse format was made for. Writer Alex de Campi and artist Chris Peterson, with colors by Nolan Woodard, are clearly having a blast leaning into the B-movie excess.
