Stephanie Phillips's supernatural series reaches its seventeenth chapter with a cover that stops you cold — a blonde woman kneels in a swirl of fire and smoke, clutching a massive red scythe while flames curl around her hands, the warm amber glow casting her in equal parts exhaustion and defiance. Flaviano's art does tremendous work here, using a tight spotlight composition to make the character feel both small against the inferno and utterly at its center. It's a moody, atmospheric image that captures exactly the kind of high-stakes supernatural tension Grim has built its reputation on.
