Green Lantern: Brother's Keeper #[nn]
In "Back in the Saddle," Green Lantern confronts the aftermath of a violent attack on his friend Terry, leading him to seek time travel with Flash—only to be challenged by Batman, Flash, and the Spectre on the limits of heroism. As Terry struggles to regain his memories and Kyle grapples with the darkness he sensed in humanity, the weight of his duty forces a difficult choice: stepping away from Earth to protect the universe, leaving John Stewart to carry the mantle once more. Written by Judd Winick and illustrated by Dale Eaglesham, with inks by Rodney Ramos, colors by Moose Baumann, and letters by Kurt Hathaway, the issue's cover by Jim Lee and Scott Williams captures the emotional stakes of a hero at a crossroads.

Following Green Lantern's aggressive apprehension of Terry's assailants, he asks Flash to help him go back in time and stop the attack. Kyle receives lectures from Flash, Batman and Spectre as to what a hero can and cannot do. Terry wakes up from his coma but cannot remember what happened to him. As a result of the ugly homophobic attack on Terry and the evil Kyle sensed in the hearts of mankind when he was Ion, he decides that he needs some time off from protecting an undeserving humanity and he and Jade leave for space, leaving John Stewart to take up the role of Green Lantern once again.
