Godzilla: Rulers of Earth #1

This opening issue of IDW's Godzilla: Rulers of Earth announces its ambitions right on the cover, where Godzilla looms in massive close-up, atomic breath blazing outward as the multi-headed Ghidorah and the mechanical Mechagodzilla loom behind him — a stacked lineup of kaiju heavyweights that promises serious monster-on-monster conflict. Matt Frank's cover art captures the sheer scale of these titans beautifully, from Godzilla's glowing eye and jagged teeth to the vivid contrast between Ghidorah's green-and-red serpentine heads and Mechagodzilla's cold steel frame. A strong start to what looks like an epic 2013 series about exactly who — or what — rules the Earth.
