The penultimate issue of Garth Ennis and Phil Winslade's eight-part Vertigo series delivers a genuinely unsettling cover: a woman's face, framed by cascading red hair, is thrown back in a raw, open-mouthed scream — and her aviator sunglasses reflect two separate vignettes, one lens crackling with green lightning around a reaching figure, the other showing a fierce red-haired woman mid-confrontation. Winslade's painted realism gives the image a visceral intensity that feels right at home among Vertigo's boldest 1995 offerings.
