God Hates Astronauts #4

Ryan Browne's gloriously unhinged series continues with issue #4, and the cover says everything you need to know about God Hates Astronauts's brand of mayhem: a massive, crown-wearing cat looms over a hapless pile of screaming figures — including what appears to be a ghost, a horned creature, and several very distressed humans — all clutched in its giant paws like a living sandwich. Colorist Jordan Boyd bathes the whole absurd scene in vivid, lurid hues that make the cat's glowing yellow eyes all the more menacing. If you've been following this series from Image, issue #4 promises the same wonderfully weird energy that makes it one of 2014's most entertainingly bizarre reads.
