Girls' Crystal #964 is an anthology containing seven picture-stories for schoolgirls. "Friends of the Gipsy Skater" follows Carol Fenton and Denia Gray as they search the Swiss mountains for their friend Mitzi, who was kidnapped as a baby; when they find her with her rascally guardian Scarpío, Mitzi attempts to escape by clambering down a snowy slope. "Hetty & Hal in Holland" by Elise Probyn tells of two children who help recover a lost Dutch cheese intended for market auction after it rolls away from a farmer's wagon. Another story features a schoolgirl named Jill who discovers a fire in the fifth form club-room and attempts to extinguish it, triggering the school fire alarm and a dramatic rescue. The issue also includes "The Race," in which Kit enters a horse-race competition against the dishonest Doreen Bateson, riding a borrowed black horse to victory.
