Art Baltazar brings his signature bold, chunky cartooning to this second volume of Gillbert, where a small blue aquatic hero dashes across the cover alongside a tiny orange companion, with a looming gray creature, a green zombie, and a pale white-haired figure tumbling through a swirling pink-and-purple backdrop dotted with cheerful little skulls. The subtitle The Curious Mysterious promises plenty of whimsy and wonderfully weird energy, perfectly captured in that chaotic, fun-filled scene.
