Läderlappen skadas allvarligt och självförtroendet får sig en knäck. Stålmannen beslutar sig för att fejka en kris för att få honom att känna sig värdefull igen och tar med sig Läderlappen, Robin och Jimmy Olsen till flaskstaden Kandor för att bekämpa hotet med metalloiderna. När Stålmannen och Jimmy antar sina hemliga superhjälteidentiteter i Kandor, Eldfågeln och Örnvingen, upptäcker de dock att hotet är mycket verkligt!
