Nightcrawler crouches alert and wide-eyed in a shadowy, overgrown courtyard — his blue skin, yellow eyes, and red-and-black costume rendered with striking confidence by cover artist Alan Davis — while a mysterious female figure lingers in the background and a bird of prey watches from the shadows nearby. The "Haunted Mansion" title alone sets a wonderfully atmospheric tone for this Giant-Size one-shot, promising something darker and more gothic than your average X-Men adventure.
