The second chapter of John Allison, Lissa Treiman, and Whitney Cogar's charming coming-of-age series arrives with a cover that perfectly captures its light, whimsical spirit — a curly-haired, bespectacled young woman in a yellow top clings to telephone wires against a cheerful blue sky, sharing the moment with a skeptical-looking bird perched nearby. Treiman's linework is delightfully expressive, giving both the girl and her feathered companion a vivid personality with just a few clean strokes.
