In "Cremation," an old man, aware his nephew is poisoning him for his inheritance, takes a chilling precaution: he has his servant melt down his gold and mix it with a radioactive solution. After his death, the servant follows his final instructions, embalming the body with the radioactive gold and cremating it. The ashes are placed in a gold urn and given to the nephew, who is told to run his fingers through them. When the nephew later disposes of the urn, he realizes too late that the ashes were his uncle’s gold—and that the radiation was meant to kill him.

In "The Gossips!", three malicious old women weave a web of cruel rumors that push their neighbors to despair and death. But when the victims return from the grave, their vengeance is far more chilling than anyone could have imagined.
