Ghost Stories #19

Dell's Ghost Stories promised tales of mystery "in… or out of this world," and this 1967 issue makes good on that boast with a genuinely unsettling cover by Frank Springer — a suited United States astronaut drifts helplessly through deep space while an enormous skeletal specter looms over him, its hollow eyes fixed on its prey. In the background, a red spacecraft tumbles past a distant Earth, deepening the sense of cosmic dread. With "The Strange Experience of Henry Peace" inside, this is a fine example of Dell leaning into the era's fascination with space-age horror.
