Dell's Ghost Stories delivers exactly what its tagline promises — "Chilling, Thrilling Tales of Mystery and Suspense" — and this April–June 1965 issue wastes no time setting the mood. The cover painting is genuinely atmospheric: a massive, skull-faced specter draped in a billowing white shroud looms over a darkened Victorian mansion, bare twisted trees and circling bats completing the scene of eerie dread. With Carl Memling's writing and Frank Springer's artwork bringing "Image of Evil" to life inside, this is a fine snapshot of mid-sixties horror comics doing what they did best.
