Ghost Rider #78

The cover of this 1983 Marvel issue by Bob Budiansky and Dave Simons sets a vivid, unsettling scene: a blue-suited figure with a skull-like face is hurled through a wall of flames, his motorcycle spinning away beside him, while the green-clad Nightmare looms menacingly overhead. That massive, ghostly visage of Ghost Rider smoldering in the background makes it clear the Spirit of Vengeance is very much part of the confrontation. "The Empire of Sleep" promises a collision between the supernatural and the surreal that fans of J. M. DeMatteis's run will find hard to resist.
