Ghost Rider #70 delivers a genuinely striking image courtesy of cover pencils by Bob Budiansky and inks by Dave Simons: the flaming-skulled Ghost Rider bursts forward on his hellfire motorcycle, surrounded on all sides by a surging mob of grotesque, grasping figures — the "Freaks!" of the issue's title. The sheer scale of the threat, with dozens of twisted forms reaching toward the blazing hero from every direction, makes for one of 1982's more visually intense Marvel covers. Roger Stern and Bob Budiansky bring their talents inside as well, promising a story every bit as wild as the cover suggests.
