Ghost Rider 2099 #1

Marvel's 1994 launch of Ghost Rider 2099 kicks off with a cover that immediately announces a darker, more cyberpunk vision of the Spirit of Vengeance — a massive, mechanized skull with blazing orange eyes looms out of a fiery backdrop, framed by an intricate tech-panel border that sets the futuristic tone perfectly. Chris Bachalo's cover work gives this skull a raw, imposing presence, equal parts supernatural dread and cold machine menace. With Len Kaminski writing and Chris Bachalo on interior art alongside inkers Mark Buckingham and Kev Sutherland, "Burning Chrome" looks like a compelling opening chapter for this gritty chrome-and-hellfire reinvention.
