Getekend leven #[nn]
Getekend Leven" — meaning "Drawn Life" — brings together the complete collaborative work of Aline Kominsky-Crumb and Robert Crumb in this 2012 Dutch-language collection from Oog & Blik and De Bezige Bij. The cover, drawn and inked by both Aline Kominsky-Crumb and Robert Crumb themselves, is a wonderfully self-aware piece: the two artists sit side by side at a drawing table — she with wild red curls and a polka-dot top, he with a wiry beard and wide eyes — each holding a brush, a cat peering in from the side, speech bubbles cheerfully proclaiming them "the only comics couple in the world" and calling the whole thing a "freak show." It's an irresistible invitation into decades of raw, funny, and utterly personal comics by one of underground comix's most distinctive partnerships.
