Gestalten des Protestantismus #[1]
This handsome 2009 volume from Evangelisches Medienhaus presents the life of Albert Schweitzer (1875–1965) "in Wort und Bild" — in word and image — bringing the celebrated theologian, physician, and humanitarian to the comics page. Roland Garel's cover artwork places a thoughtful, silver-haired Schweitzer at the piano in the foreground, while inset panels in the background hint at his work in Africa, depicting scenes of patients and tropical settings rendered in a clean, expressive line. It's a fitting tribute to one of the twentieth century's most remarkable figures, told with care and craft.
