In "Trio der Nacht," a young woman named Laurie Callan finds herself drawn to the museum’s famed 17th-century painting, "The Smiling Cavalier," unable to capture its essence in her sketches. One evening, after staying behind past closing, she witnesses the painting—and two others—come to life, sending her fleeing through the silent halls as the figures pursue her. When she finally escapes, the night guard who lets her out bears an uncanny resemblance to the man in the portrait.
