# The Savage Raids of Chief Geronimo The issue contains at least two stories. In the first, Geronimo orchestrates a devastating attack on white settlers in Cougar Valley by setting prairie fires on multiple sides to trap wagon trains between the flames, forcing the racing settlers toward a mountain ambush where Geronimo waits. A white spy named Sieber attempts to stop Geronimo but is pursued up a rocky mountainside; though Sieber appears to fall to his death, he survives by catching himself on a ledge and escapes to Fort Apache. In a second story, a woman named Cora Carter is trapped in a forest fire set by a murderer who plans to make her death appear accidental while he creates an alibi in town; a ranger named Hal Creeger works to rescue her and expose the killer's scheme before the fire consumes her.
