The cover of this 2011 Daedalus release is immediately arresting: two figures in red flight suits stride forward out of a pitch-black void, one standing tall and composed while the other appears grotesquely skeletal and decayed, clutching a helmet from which dark, root-like tendrils spread across the ground beneath them. Jean-Michel Ponzio's cover art — rendered with deep shadows and unsettling biological detail — sets a tone that is equal parts science fiction and something far darker. Subtitled "Kaïn en Abel," this third deel of Universal War One promises a story steeped in conflict as ancient as humanity itself.
