Generation Gone #2

André Lima Araújo's cover for this Image Comics series captures a young woman soaring through a billowing cloudscape, her hair streaming behind her and tears flying from her eyes — every inch of her expression radiating the shock of someone who absolutely did not expect to be airborne. The censored expletive in the corner says it all, adding a burst of humor to what is clearly a breathtaking, disorienting moment. Aleš Kot and Araújo's Generation Gone #2 looks like exactly the kind of 2017 superhero story that earns its emotional gut-punches.
