This July–August 1947 Dell issue features a striking photo cover of Gene Autry himself — dressed in a checkered Western jacket, white gloves, and a broad-brimmed hat, with a bandolier of ammunition draped across his chest and a warm, confident smile aimed straight at the reader. The combination of the real-deal cowboy star's image and the promise of "The Bandit King" inside makes for an irresistible package for any Western fan.
