This January 1953 Dell issue puts the Singing Cowboy front and center in a tense photo cover — Gene Autry, clad in a vivid striped Western shirt and cowboy hat, peers through the shattered remains of a broken chair with revolver drawn and ready. It's a striking image that perfectly captures the rough-and-tumble spirit of the frontier, and at 52 pages for a dime, there's plenty of Western adventure packed inside.
