This July 1951 Dell issue puts the "Singing Cowboy" front and center in a striking photo-illustrated cover — Gene Autry in his embroidered blue western shirt and white hat, hand resting steady near his holstered revolver, with a sun-drenched ranch landscape and windmill stretching out behind him. The confident, watchful pose sets the tone perfectly for 52 pages of all-comics adventure inside, including the intriguingly titled story "The Barge Buccaneers." At a dime a copy, this was a fantastic deal for fans who wanted their western hero in full comic book form.
