Gene Autry Comics #5

This January–February 1947 Dell issue features a striking photo cover showing Gene Autry in his signature red western shirt with gold trim, hands raised, while a dark-hatted figure looms behind him clutching a pistol — a tense standoff right in front of a frontier town building. The story promised inside, "Gene Autry and the Scar," sets the stage for a western adventure with all the grit fans of the singing cowboy had come to love. At just a dime, this was an affordable thrill for young readers in 1947.
